Cefn Garw, Tregaer Hoard
Author: Steven Ricey Published: 02-07-2009
The National Museum of Wales retained three of the nine gold coins
found (with another subsequently lost) in an old quarry at the top of
a locally-prominent ridge near the farm house of Cefn Garw, Tregaer,
by a child at play in August 1962.
There was no container, and a site visit with a metal detector
produced no further coins; the fact that the four occured together in
the base of the top soil suggest the core of the hoard was recovered.
