The Armlet Hoard-Anglesey

Although this hoard did not comprise of coins, rather silver armlets, it is in my opinion important to document this find.

The hoard comprise of five massive silver armlets of Viking character of Anglesey? It is unclear if these five armlets are the entire find, as they were handed down to the national museum of Wales by the Widow of a local antiquary. They are reputed to have been discovered during quarying operations near the easterly tip of Red Wharf Bay, which delimits the Penmon Peninsula in the North.
The name of the quarry is given as ‘Dinorben’ but no quarry with that name attached is marked on the ordnance survey map.
It is known that the owners of the find initially owned ‘Tan Dinas’ and ‘Fedw Fawr’ quarry and it is likely that either could have been the site known locally as ‘Dinorben Quarry’ from the ownership rather than the locality.
