The Llantrithyd Hoard

This hoard of eight pennies of Henry I's TypeX1 was found scattered where they had fallen from a position in a wall of the early medieval hall at Llantrithyd in the Vale of Glamorgan, during excavations by the Cardiff Archaeological Societyin 1962-3. The first seven were declared Treasure Trove, and the eigth which was a subsequent find from the same general area, was deemed to be part of the same hoard.
