The Penrice (Gower) Hoard, 1825

A hoard was discovered in 1825 of 'about thirty silver pennies of
Ethelred the Second........under a stone near Penrice Castle' when a
new road to a house was being made. Several were probably scattered
and lost by workmen, and there seemed to be traces of a wooden box in
which they had been concealed.
